Anne Lefoley is a friend of mine, a very nice lady who one day brought loaves of her scrumptious banana bread to Second Cents to give to us, just because she wanted to!  It was the best banana bread I've ever had (sorry Mom, but it really was!) and I have to admit I've never made it myself but Anne did give me the recipe.  I think I've never tried it because I'm afraid it won't come out as good as Annie's!

Anne Lefoley's Banana Bread

1 c sugar
1/3 c margarine or butter, softened
2 eggs
1-1/2 c mashed ripe bananas (3-4)
1/3 c water
1-2/3 c flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1/4 t baking powder
1/2 c shopped walnuts

Heat the oven to 350.  Grease a loaf pan.  Mix sugar and margarine in a bowl, stir in eggs until blended.  Add bananas and water; beat 30 seconds.  Stir in remaining ingredients, except nuts, until just moistened.  Stir in nuts.  Pour into pan and bake 55-60 minutes, until it passes the toothpick test.  Cool completely before slicing.
