Not much to report from the kitchen this week;  I did make chicken soup, though, which came out pretty tasty ( I guess I can say that without conceit, because it could have just as easily been a train wreck.  If the things I cook end up edible, it's nothing more than a happy accident;  it's through no particular skill of mine, I assure you!)

Usually when I make chicken, I buy a whole one and just use the legs and breasts, and give the rest to Mom to make soup; however, because she had just made some, I figured I would try it since she gave me this nifty little Rival electric pot.

So I boiled what was left of the chicken carcass in the pot in what I deemed was enough water until it fell apart, then picked out the inedible parts.  I threw some salt and pepper in there, along with a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, a bag of frozen stir-fry vegetables (yes, peppers, water chestnuts, pea pods, all that stuff) and 1/2 package of cooked Ditalini.  Once before I threw uncooked pasta in the soup, figuring that of course it was going to boil so the pasta would cook and be fine.  BAD IDEA.  It will come out mushy and slimy if you do that.  So cook it first.

Anyhow, that's all there was to it.  It could probably use some spices or whatever, but that's up to you to decide.  I thought I should quit while I was ahead.
